The Hogwarts seen in the films is a highly detailed small-scale model (pictured above). The small-scale model was used to film exterior shots throughout every movie. While the exterior shots used the small-scale model, the interior shots drew inspiration from Christ Church in Oxford. The architectural beauty of Christ Church was replicated in the movies to decorate the interior of Hogwarts. The dining hall, hallways, and ceilings of Hogwarts are all inspired from Christ Church.
Throughout the tour, there are many photo opportunities at the iconic train platform, quidditch field, Hagrid's Hut, and many more. Created by production designer, Stuart Craig, the iconic photo sets immerse the individual within the Harry Potter world. The photo opportunities are provided by the employees at Warner Brothers Studio London and allow everyone to take a piece of the memorable tour home with them. Halfway through the self-guided tour, there is a chance to try the infamous Butter Beer from the movie! The Beer is non-alcoholic and tastes similar to butterscotch candy, but in liquid form. After pounding down a Butter Beer there is more! The original house on Privet Drive is right outside the cafeteria.
Entering the original house of Harry Potter's aunt and uncle is a surreal experience. Immediately, you are hit with an extravagant display of Hogwarts letters disarrayed in the living room. The entire tour I was smiling like a little kid in a candy shop. Seeing all of the behind the scenes of the movies was extremely enjoyable. Knowing that the stars of the movie graced the sets was unbelievable. The interactive sets make you feel like you are in the movie and a part of the Wizarding World. After the tour, there was a magnificent sky full of colors above the Harry Potter banner.
The beautiful sight topped off an amazing experience at Hogwarts. The nostalgic feelings exuded by the tour brought me back to my childhood and made me feel serene happiness. The intricate sets, butter beer, and interactive displays allows the visitor to make their dreams of being at Hogwarts a reality.
