CineTrek # 2: The Parliament Tour

A new day awaits for us and we are fortunate to be blessed with an another CineTrek. The House of Parliaments is the next destination appointed to us and it is definitely going to be an informative one. Within the House's of Parliament, it is made up of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The House of Lords consisted of individuals who possessed royal blood in their veins and had positions passed down through generations. Whereas those from the House of Commons earned their positions by being elected into it also known as Members of Parliament.

Throughout many individuals childhood we were introduced to royal stereotypes especially from cinema like Disney movies. However, how really important is the nobility when it comes to the House of Parliament? As we approach the House of Parliament my colleagues and I were presented astonishment towards the size of the structure. Our guide Ian guided us through the pillars of the building presenting us with the plethora of detailed work constructed throughout the chambers. The gothic halls reminds us that many individuals with power has also walked along these columns. Extravagance and gold filled room shined throughout the multitude of chambers. One room that heavily caught my eyes was the House of Lords. The room was beautifully decorated by lustrous gold artifacts as well as vibrant red seats in order to produce that awe effect as soon as you enter through the room. Also in the chamber, a beautiful golden throne is positioned for everyone to see in order to show its superiority compared to everyone else in the room. The room contained such an extravagant sight that tourists can instantly assume that whoever was in these room wanted to display their wealth and status. As the tour progresses we were consistently delighted with power you would assume it would just like it throughout the rest of the tour, but will soon be wrong.

As we continue with the tour we were then escorted towards the House of Commons. There we were presented with dull colors to signify its inferiority when in comparison of the rooms. The room contained dull oak walls as well as an appealing green seats around the chamber. The Speaker's chair, who is the officer of the House of Commons, is immensely dull when in comparison to the Queen's throne. Being presented by such a remarkable difference in chambers, observers can assume how egotistic the lords are when showing off their wealth.

It makes you wonder how important the monarchy really are. The monarchy is such an unintelligent way of handing down the throne, due to solely passing it down through their heir rather than passing it down to brilliant individuals who deserve the position. The House of Commons is a superior method of appointing positions because the MP's were elected due to their worthiness in their position. The monarchy is inferior because there is a higher possibility in handing down the throne to an heir who is unworthy of the throne.

As we leave the House of Parliament it feels as if the information learned today will be engraved in my head, leaving with knowledge about the UK Parliament that I did not know before entering this magnificent structure.
